A QUINTESSENTIAL COUNTRY ENGAGEMENT SHOOT
Hurtwood Park Polo Country Club, Surrey
I know not night from day,
Nor thrush from cuckoo grey, Nor cloud from the sun that shines above thee.
Nor freezing cold from the heat, Nor friend-if friend I meet.
I but know- heart’s love! I love thee.
Love that my life began. Love, that will close life’s span.
Love that grows ever by love-giving: Love, from the first to last, Love till all life be passed.
Love that loves on after living!

How did you meet?
It all began at a New Year’s Eve party at the Hurtwood Park Polo Club on 31st December 2006. A group of us made a last minute decision to head down there for the night to see in 2007 and that’s where I bumped into Jay on the dancefloor.
Fast forward 10 years, with a long distance university relationship and umpteen games of polo in between, and Jay was down on one knee and popping the question to me in a hotel in Bath, where we were staying for an overnight break, which I thought was just a little belated birthday getaway. Unbeknownst to me, he’d had this planned for a while. The only other two people who knew were my dad, who he’d taken for a beer to ask for his permission, and my best friend Dani who he took with him for a second opinion when choosing the ring, in a cloak and dagger operation. They both did extremely well to keep the secret!
I was a blubbering mess, getting makeup all over Jay’s white shirt resulting in a last minute outfit change, but we eventually made our way down to dinner. It was a bit of a surreal meal, to say the least – I kept wanting to jump up mid-way through my course and shout ‘WE’RE ENGAGED’. But I managed to keep my composure… just!
The next few days were a whirlwind of champagne-filled celebrations before the ‘wedmin’ began in earnest. And now, here we are, just over two months away from the big day…
